In our last blog, we announced the merger of Oxford Networks and FirstLight Fiber, which was made possible when Oak Hill Capital Partners acquired Oxford Networks. This development is great news for Oxford customers because it enables us to combine our resources and expertise with those of FirstLight and continue to exceed client expectations.

In this blog, we share the next step in our business transformation – a collaboration with Sovernet Communications. We will also introduce you to all of our new partners, including FirstLight, Sovernet, and our owners, Oak Hill Capital Partners.

Bringing Greater Network Coverage in 2017

Oxford Networks’ new partnership with FirstLight was just the beginning of what has been a series of exciting developments. Another merger with Sovernet Communications of Vermont is about to happen, enabling us to be part of one of the most extensive fiber-optic networks in New England. Once the merger with Sovernet is complete, customers will benefit from a fiber-optic network that covers 9,500 route miles, connecting users in 5 states as well as Canada.

Customers can expect the same high-quality service along with a more extensive reach. After the acquisition of Sovernet is complete, FirstLight will operate more than 5,000 on-net locations and offer greater data center capacity provided by 11 strategically located data centers with 128,000 square feet of space.

These mergers provide real value to our customers, employees, stakeholders, and the communities in which we serve. Oxford, FirstLight, and Sovernet all share the vision of providing the highest performing and most comprehensive set of communications solutions to help our clients successfully compete in the digital age.
