About the Great Northern Shootout:

Since the beginning of the tournament in 1998, a participating team has gone on to win the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Division III title nine times. The tournament truly is a major college hockey attraction and Thanksgiving tradition and serves as a good representation of the season’s outcome. The tournament is hailed by several sports reporters as being “the best tournament in Division III hockey.” FirstLight adopted the tournament in 2020 after the acquisition of PrimeLink, the tournament’s previous sponsor.
