BestWeb is Now FirstLight!

FirstLight recently acquired BestWeb, complementing FirstLight’s existing 20,000-mile low-latency fiber optic network with an additional 170 route miles. Through this acquisition, customers can take advantage of a broader array of products and solutions including cloud, data center, unified communications, and managed services.

In order to create a single, unified identity, BestWeb is transitioning to the FirstLight brand. While our name may change, we will continue to provide customers with the high-quality service they have come to expect from BestWeb. FirstLight has a proven track record of serving New York customers, including Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties, and we’re excited to continue to grow in the lower Hudson Valley area. Our service is backed by locally-based support teams with knowledge of BestWeb’s existing customer base and relationships.

BestWeb Dial-Up Internet To Be Discontinued April 30th

Several BestWeb customers currently have dial-up Internet and/or email service with legacy BestWeb. On April 30th, 2021, FirstLight will discontinue dial-up Internet service. If you require an alternate Internet provider, we encourage you to consider upgrading to our faster, low-latency fiber optic Internet service.

We are discontinuing dial-up Internet because this legacy service doesn’t achieve speeds required to support today’s applications. Having migrated to the latest technologies, it is no longer feasible for FirstLight to continue to support and maintain dial up service. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If BestWeb dial-up is your primary means to access the Internet, we would be happy to offer an alternative solution, or you can find a new Internet provider at your earliest convenience if you have not already done so. Various independent on-line resources can help find a provider near you, including www.broadbandnow.com and www.highspeedinternet.com. Rest assured that switching to another provider for a replacement for your dial up Internet service will not result in any termination fees from FirstLight.

Customers who currently have a BestWeb provided email address will be able to keep their existing email address and email service. Customers who wish to discontinue their BestWeb email service can notify us of that desire by emailing us at bw_billing@firstlight.net.

FirstLight will continue to directly support all of your other FirstLight provided services.
