Sherry Cathcart Chavis, Public Funding Advisor for Commercial/GES Enterprise Healthcare – Cisco

Prior to joining Cisco in July 2020, Sherry served for four years at an international NGO as Senior Advisor for Development—Strategic Partnership and New Business Development—where she led a prospecting team to prospect, cultivate, and craft winning grant proposals and disseminate international and domestic funding trends analyses, research, and best practices in support of women’s health and rights. For six years at Duke Clinical Research Institute/Duke School of Medicine, she led joint accreditation of continuing medical education activities through competitive grants supported by pharmaceutical and device manufacturers. Prior to joining DCRI, she served in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center in support of its strategic planning and development efforts to establish and grow an alumni giving program. With stints at Duke University Press, McGraw-Hill, and the EPA at Research and Evaluation Associates, Sherry is recognized for establishing and leveraging business partnerships and donor collaborations across several fields, including healthcare, environmental sciences, and social justice. She has a Master of Arts from Duke University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
