Tech Valley Closes TelJet Acquisition

TELECOM RAMBLINGS — July 1, 2013 — Tech Valley Communications cemented its position as the main alternative fiber footprint in upstate NY and northern New England this morning by closing the acquisition of TelJet.

The deal gives Tech Valley fiber that helps connect its Albany metro area base with the SegTel assets it acquired two years ago, and boosts its asset base to 190K fiber miles and 1,300 on-net buildings across the region.

Tech Valley has been relatively quiet about its expansion plans since the Riverside Partners took the reins.  But they seem to be ready for a wider presence, or at least they’ve finally started distributing a network map lately showing the full extent of their combined assets (something I’ve been looking out for for some time now):

Northern New England doesn’t its fair share of attention from the rest of the network industry.  Hence, while as a region it is off the beaten path as compared to the main internet hubs, the competition is also less fierce with mainly Fairpoint as the incumbent and a fragmented MSO environment.
