Plans call for continued expansion to support Vermont’s growing business sector

Albany, NY – June 4, 2019 – FirstLight, a leading provider of fiber-optic data, Internet, data center, cloud, and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers throughout the Northeast, announced today it has reached a milestone in Vermont, having added approximately 250 miles of new fiber throughout the state in the span of just over a year.

FirstLight has consistently undertaken projects to expand and enhance its fiber footprint throughout Vermont to meet the continued demand for fiber-based, broadband communications services. The number of route miles of fiber in Vermont now total more than 1,500 miles, with additional expansion planned for later this year, and the number of Vermont buildings on or within close proximity to FirstLight’s network has increased to 3,500.

FirstLight was also recently recognized by BroadbandNow as having the fastest business Internet in Vermont as well as Top Internet Speed Nationwide among mid-sized providers. Through its website, BroadbandNow helps consumers find and compare local Internet service providers.

FirstLight has focused on meeting the communication needs of key industry sectors in Vermont, and now is proud to say it serves some of the state’s largest hospitals, schools, municipalities, and financial services organizations. FirstLight has won a number of high-profile accounts in recent months, including Cabot Creamery, the Town of Bennington, and Tri-State Area Federal Credit Union.

The company also recently launched several new services now marketed to customers in Vermont, including a managed firewall service, a managed router service, and an encrypted wavelength solution.
