INCOMPAS Spring 2016, formally COMPTEL, sprung into gear in our Nation’s Capital; this being its first show after the rebrand was announced in 2015.  The new name illustrates INCOMPAS’ commitment to innovation, competition and the future.  The event started like most with a welcome reception that included Maryland classics, such as crab and po boys, and continued with fun games to drive interaction.  Attendees were entertained by corn hole and one the greatest Jenga games ever played.

Notable headlines from Day 1 were, first, the INCOMPAS Board of Directors election. INCOMPAS elected 13 companies to serve on its Board of Directors for the 2016-2018 term. We are excited to have our own President and CEO, Kurt Van Wagenen, re-elected to the INCOMPAS Board of Directors.tomwheeler

Second, INCOMPAS Spring 2016 Keynote Speaker, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler.  During his speech Wheeler stated, “My own views are in significant accord with your letter. And that’s not a surprise, because finding common ground should start with common sense, and I believe the principles I am supporting are firmly based in the realities of the marketplace.”

The event was very busy for FirstLight. Our team worked hard to connect with fellow attendees during our back-to-back meetings. firstlight room incompasThe INCOMPAS shows are a great venue for face-to-face meetings, to reconnect with colleagues and learn about the latest industry developments.

The event ended with a networking BBQ overlooking the Potomac River with the Washington monument just peaking over the tree line. Overall, it was another successful event for FirstLight Fiber. We look forward to our next event, ITW 2016, and the opportunities it will bring.  Plan to meet us there!
